The Lubavitcher Rebbe often quoted the Rambam saying:
"A single good deed, word, or even thought, has the power to tip the scales and bring redemption to the world.
The way we fight Darkness in the world is by turning on the light."

The Rebbe explained:

"Every mitzvah we do creates light in the world and pushes away the darkness."
